Nusantara, July 28, 2024, The Europe Today: In a significant move symbolizing the ongoing development of Indonesia’s new capital, President Joko Widodo, commonly known as Jokowi, will spend the night at the newly constructed presidential palace in Nusantara Capital City (IKN) on Sunday. This marks a pivotal moment as the President prepares to work from the Presidential Office on Monday.
“Yes, I will spend the night at the palace,” President Jokowi confirmed to reporters during his visit to Nusantara’s Central Government Core Area (KIPP) on Sunday.
He further elaborated on the readiness of essential utilities in the new capital, highlighting the completion of water and electricity infrastructure. “I have been informed that water, electricity, bedrooms, and beds have been provided,” he said. “That way, I can sleep.”
The Presidential Secretariat has previously announced that the palace has been furnished with necessary furniture and office supplies, including lamps, tables, and chairs, ensuring that the President’s workspace is fully operational.
This event marks a key milestone in the development of Nusantara Capital City, reflecting the government’s commitment to advancing the project and establishing a new administrative center for Indonesia.
