Hong Kong, August 29, 2024, The Europe Today: Seminars were recently held in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) to discuss the guiding principles of the third plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), aimed at inspiring development momentum within the region.
During these seminars, key principles from the CPC’s session were elaborated to diverse audiences across various sectors in Hong Kong. The events underscored the importance of Hong Kong’s role in the broader national context and its contribution to China’s ongoing reform and development.
“History has shown that Hong Kong has always played a positive role in the country’s reform and opening-up drive,” said John Lee, Chief Executive of the HKSAR. He emphasized Hong Kong’s commitment to promoting high-quality development both within the region and in alignment with Chinese-style modernization.
Chan Kwok-ki, Chief Secretary for Administration of the HKSAR government, highlighted the government’s efforts to transform Hong Kong into an international talent hub, further enhancing the region’s global competitiveness.
Paul Chan, Financial Secretary of the HKSAR government, stressed the importance of advancing coordinated scientific and technological innovation in collaboration with the mainland. He urged a sense of responsibility among stakeholders, encouraging them to work diligently towards these shared goals.
Wingco Lo, President of the Chinese Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong, called on the Hong Kong business community to actively participate in deepening comprehensive reforms and strengthening international connections. He emphasized the critical role that businesses play in Hong Kong’s integration with global markets.
Sunny Tan, Chairman of the Hong Kong Productivity Council, remarked that Hong Kong is well-positioned to lead in the development of new quality productive forces and spearhead new industrialization efforts. He stressed the need for promoting high-end, intelligent, and green transformations within industries to ensure sustainable growth.
The seminars collectively reinforced Hong Kong’s strategic role in China’s development plans, highlighting the region’s potential to contribute significantly to national and global progress.
