Bandung, August 8, 2025 – The Europe Today: President Prabowo Subianto has underscored the importance of modesty and public service in the upcoming celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of Indonesia’s Independence Day, scheduled for August 17, 2025.

“We are projecting relatively modest celebrations, as we still have much work to do for the people,” President Prabowo stated on Thursday following his participation in the 2025 Indonesian Convention of Science, Technology, and Industry in Bandung.

In response to media inquiries about the list of foreign dignitaries to be invited for the commemorative events, the President reiterated that the emphasis would remain on the people and national spirit, rather than on lavish protocols.

According to the plan, the Independence Day festivities will begin with a reenactment of the Proclamation of Independence ceremony at Merdeka Palace in the morning. In the afternoon, a public feast offering a wide variety of food and beverages will be held in the palace’s central courtyard, open to the general public.

In parallel, a similar full-day celebration will take place at the National Monument (Monas) square, culminating in a fireworks display in the evening.

One of the major highlights of the event will be a night parade, which President Prabowo will formally flag off. The parade will feature representatives from ministries, government agencies, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the National Police (Polri), the Attorney General’s Office, and both state- and region-owned enterprises. Each group will be accompanied by uniquely decorated vehicles showcasing themes aligned with their respective institutional missions and public service programs.

State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi, who is serving as Chair of the 80th Independence Day Celebration Committee, informed the press on Tuesday that the parade would commence near Merdeka Palace.

Minister Hadi also noted that President Prabowo hopes the festivities will serve not only as a tribute to Indonesia’s journey but also as a source of public inspiration and optimism in facing present and future national challenges.

“The President wishes for this celebration to unite the nation and remind us all of the importance of resilience, dedication, and service to the people,” Hadi remarked.
