CSTO Holds High-Level Joint Sitting in Astana

Astana, November 28, 2024 – The Europe Today: The joint sitting of the Council of Foreign Ministers, Council of Defense Ministers, and the Committee of Secretaries of the CSTO Collective Security Council convened today in the Kazakh capital under the chairmanship of Kazakhstan, according to the Ministry of Interior.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Murat Nurtleu, Secretary of the Security Council Gizat Nurdauletov, and Defense Minister Ruslan Zhaksylykov represented Kazakhstan at the meeting.

Participants reviewed the military and political landscape in the CSTO Collective Security regions and assessed the organization’s activities during the inter-sessional period. Special attention was given to pressing international issues, including developments in the Middle East and Afghanistan.

The meeting resulted in the approval of several key draft documents, which will be presented to the CSTO Collective Security Council. These include the CSTO Declaration, a Statement of the Collective Security Council, and an Action Plan marking the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

The CSTO Collective Security Council is scheduled to meet later today in Astana, building on the outcomes of the joint sitting.
