Georgian President Discusses National Developments with EU Leaders

Tbilisi, December 02, 2024 – The Europe Today: Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili held a phone conversation with European Council President Antonio Costa and the European Union’s new High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaia Kallas, to address the current situation in Georgia.

The Georgian presidential administration confirmed the discussions, highlighting the significance of engaging with the recently appointed EU officials. Antonio Costa and Kaia Kallas, who assumed their respective roles after succeeding Charles Michel and Josep Borrell earlier this week, emphasized the EU’s continued focus on Georgia’s political and social developments.

The dialogue underlined Georgia’s aspirations for closer integration with the European Union and addressed pressing national issues amid regional challenges. The Georgian president reiterated her commitment to strengthening relations with European institutions and maintaining an open channel for dialogue on shared priorities.

This engagement reflects the EU’s ongoing interest in supporting Georgia’s democratic reforms and its role in fostering stability in the South Caucasus region. Further details of the discussions were not disclosed.
