Accreditation Opens for Journalists at Belarus’ Central Election Commission Information Center

Minsk, December 12, 2024 – The Europe Today: The accreditation process for journalists wishing to work at the Information Center of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Belarus has officially begun, according to the Information Ministry. The registration period runs from December 12, 2024, to January 13, 2025, and is open to representatives of both Belarusian and international media.

The Information Center, headquartered at the Palace of the Republic, will operate from January 24 to 27, 2025, providing timely updates on the presidential election of the Republic of Belarus.

The opening day, January 24, will feature key events, including a meeting of the CIS Advisory Council of Heads of Electoral Bodies, the youth tournament Vybor.BY, and an exhibition commemorating the 35th anniversary of the Central Election Commission.

From January 25 to 27, the Information Center will host press conferences led by Igor Karpenko, Chairman of the Central Election Commission, as well as briefings and interviews with CIS and SCO observers, government representatives, political experts, and public opinion leaders. Media representatives will have the opportunity to engage in scrums, attend briefings, and gather insights from experts and officials.

On January 26, comprehensive updates on the voting process will be shared, including live broadcasts from polling stations and reports from the Center for Public Observation under the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus. This initiative will centralize information from national observers to ensure transparency.

For the first time, journalism students from Belarusian State University (BSU) will volunteer at the media platform, providing support during the country’s pivotal election campaign. A fully equipped press center will also be available to facilitate live coverage, including on-site studios of national TV channels and news agencies.

The Information Center aims to ensure efficient communication and reliable coverage of the electoral process, offering a dynamic platform for local and international media to deliver real-time updates to their audiences.
