Ashgabat, October 11, 2026 – The Europe Today: Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko on October 9 during the latter’s visit to Turkmenistan to participate in high-level international events in the Avaza National Tourist Zone, according to Turkmen state media.
During the meeting, the two leaders discussed prospects for strengthening bilateral cooperation across a range of sectors, including transport, the chemical industry, oil and gas, and textiles. They also explored opportunities to enhance collaboration in science, education, culture and the arts.
President Berdimuhamedov noted that Turkmen students are pursuing their studies at universities in Belarus, highlighting the importance of educational exchanges in fostering closer ties between the two countries. He also expressed interest in organizing reciprocal cultural days, exhibitions and other joint events to promote mutual understanding and cultural cooperation.
The two sides also reviewed cooperation within international and regional organizations, particularly the United Nations and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
At the conclusion of the meeting, President Berdimuhamedov and President Lukashenko expressed confidence that relations between Turkmenistan and Belarus would continue to develop and strengthen across various fields, building on their existing partnership and shared interests.
