Minsk, January 1, 2025 – The Europe Today: Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko extended warm New Year greetings to citizens and guests of Belarus in a heartfelt address delivered from the Palace of Independence, expressing gratitude for the achievements of the past year and optimism for the future.
“Midnight is approaching, and these moments are filled with excitement and anticipation,” the President remarked. He highlighted the significance of the New Year’s Eve tradition, where families gather to reflect on the past, express gratitude, and share their hopes for the future.
Reflecting on the achievements of 2024, President Lukashenko expressed gratitude to Belarusian farmers, producers, and artists for their contributions to the nation. He praised the agricultural sector for delivering a bountiful harvest and noted the success of domestic industries in rolling out new products. He also acknowledged the efforts of builders and designers in enhancing the beauty and comfort of Belarusian cities and towns, which he described as the country’s “calling card” admired by visitors.
The President emphasized the importance of peace and security, commending the men and women in uniform for their dedication and acknowledging their families for their support. “For peace and our security, we thank our defenders,” he said, underscoring the enduring significance of the sacrifices made during the Great Patriotic War as the nation prepares to mark the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory.
President Lukashenko also highlighted the milestone achievements of 2024, including the historic flight of Belarus’s first sovereign cosmonaut and the successful implementation of the Belarusian People’s Congress.
