Uzbekistan and Pakistan Explore Enhanced Connectivity and Logistics Cooperation

Karachi, January 5, 2025 – The Europe Today: H.E. Alisher Tukhtaev, Uzbekistan’s distinguished representative, held a fruitful meeting with Mr. Khalid Awan, CEO of Pakistan’s leading transport and logistics company, TCS. The discussions centered on exploring new opportunities to enhance transport and transit links between Uzbekistan and Pakistan, with a focus on improving the efficiency of cargo transportation.

During the meeting, Mr. Khalid Awan expressed his unwavering support for the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan to strengthen regional connectivity. He highlighted that this initiative is critical for increasing trade volumes and fostering economic cooperation in the region.

TCS proposed alternative cargo routes between Uzbekistan and Pakistan to ensure uninterrupted deliveries and swift responses to emergencies. These routes aim to strengthen trade ties and enhance logistical efficiency between the two nations.

A key highlight of the discussions was the proposed launch of an air cargo service between Uzbekistan and Pakistan. This service is expected to facilitate the export and import of perishable goods, ensuring faster delivery and opening new opportunities for trade.

Additionally, TCS announced its plan to establish an “Uzbekistan Visa Facilitation Centre” in Pakistan. This center will simplify the visa application process for tourists and businesspeople, making travel to Uzbekistan more accessible and convenient.

These initiatives underscore the shared goal of Uzbekistan and Pakistan to transform into major transport and logistics hubs in Central and South Asia, paving the way for mutually beneficial cooperation. They are expected to strengthen economic ties, foster regional development, and create new job opportunities.
