President Ilham Aliyev Highlights Zangezur Corridor as Key Transportation Project

Baku, January 28, 2025 – The Europe Today: President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan underscored the significance of the Zangezur corridor during a recent meeting focused on transportation issues. Aliyev emphasized that the Zangezur corridor project, initially proposed by Azerbaijan, has gained international recognition following the country’s victory in the Second Karabakh War.

Speaking at the meeting, President Aliyev stated, “After our victory in the Second Karabakh War, this issue was brought to the international agenda and entered international terminology. Today, the Zangezur corridor is a widely accepted term and expression.”

Aliyev further highlighted that Azerbaijan is actively working on practical steps toward the opening of the corridor, which has become a central component of the country’s regional transportation strategy. The Zangezur corridor is expected to enhance connectivity between Azerbaijan, Turkey, and other regional partners, fostering economic development and stability in the South Caucasus.
