Kazakh President Tokayev Congratulates Janibek Alimkhanuly on Successful Defense of WBO and IBF Titles

Astana, April 6, 2025 – The Europe Today: President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has extended his congratulations to Janibek Alimkhanuly (17-0, 11 KOs) for his successful defense of the WBO and IBF middleweight boxing titles, according to Kazinform News Agency.

The announcement was made by Ruslan Zheldibay, Press Secretary to the President of Kazakhstan, who noted that the Head of State praised the boxer’s outstanding performance and unwavering spirit.

“The President emphasized that all fellow citizens feel proud of the athlete, who defended the country’s honor with dignity on home soil, demonstrating resilience and a high level of skill. He wished Alimkhanuly continued success in his career,” the statement read.

Janibek Alimkhanuly claimed victory over previously undefeated French boxer Anauel Ngamissengue (14-0, 9 KOs) during a high-profile fight night held in Astana.

The event also featured a number of other Kazakh talents. Batyrzhan Jukembayev, the Sabyrkhan brothers — Makhmud and Torekhan, and Alisher Abdulalim secured wins in their respective bouts. However, Akniet Alimbay suffered a loss to Josef Dubsky of the Czech Republic.

Alimkhanuly had successfully completed the weigh-in ahead of his headline bout, continuing his unbeaten streak and strengthening his position as one of Kazakhstan’s top boxing champions.
