Uzbekistan and Germany Sign Trilateral MoU to Boost Labor Migration and Professional Mobility

Berlin, April 9, 2025 – The Europe Today: A trilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing cooperation in labor migration and professional mobility between Uzbekistan and Germany was signed at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Germany.

The agreement brings together key stakeholders including the Embassy of Uzbekistan, Mikrokreditbank JSCB (represented by Chairman Orif Butayev), International People IP GmbH & Co. KG (led by Thomas Förster), and the German Sparkassenstiftung for International Cooperation in Uzbekistan (with Head Matthias Wangler attending online). Diplomats and representatives from both countries also participated in the signing ceremony.

A Pathway for Skilled Uzbek Workers

The memorandum outlines a collaborative framework for the selection, training, and employment of qualified Uzbek specialists at German enterprises in the sectors of gastronomy, logistics, and meat processing.

The German partners have pledged comprehensive support, including:

  • German language instruction
  • Professional skills training
  • Visa facilitation
  • Housing arrangements
  • Cultural and workplace adaptation assistance

These steps are designed to ensure the smooth integration of Uzbek workers into Germany’s labor market.

Education and Preparation Underway in Uzbekistan

According to Akbar Fakhriyev, Head of the International People Education GmbH Center in Tashkent, language and vocational training programs are already underway. The courses are tailored to meet the demands of German employers and align with international certification standards.

Next Steps: German Delegation to Visit Uzbekistan

A German delegation is scheduled to visit Uzbekistan in April 2025 to develop a practical cooperation plan that will guide the implementation of this initiative. In parallel, Mikrokreditbank JSCB will establish a dedicated working group to coordinate efforts with German counterparts, ensuring smooth execution and monitoring of the project.

Reinforcing Bilateral Ties

This agreement represents a key step in realizing the Comprehensive Partnership Agreement on migration and mobility between Uzbekistan and Germany. It reflects both nations’ commitment to mutually beneficial workforce development, orderly migration, and economic collaboration.
