Liberville, May 5, 2025 – The Europe Today: China highly values the development of its relations with Gabon and is ready to work jointly to elevate their comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership to new heights, Chinese President Xi Jinping’s special envoy Mu Hong said during an official visit to Libreville.
Mu, who serves as Vice Chairperson of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, attended the inauguration ceremony of Gabonese President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema on May 3, at the invitation of the Gabonese leader. On May 4, President Nguema received Mu in Libreville.
During the meeting, Mu conveyed President Xi’s warm congratulations and best wishes to President Nguema, emphasizing that China is willing to draw from the strength of its traditional friendship with Gabon, enhance mutual trust through solidarity and cooperation, and pursue shared progress through mutual benefit and win-win outcomes.
President Nguema expressed his sincere appreciation to President Xi for sending a special envoy to attend the inauguration and asked Mu to convey his heartfelt greetings and best wishes to the Chinese leader.
Nguema reaffirmed Gabon’s strong commitment to the traditional friendship between the two countries and reiterated his nation’s unwavering support for the one-China principle. He stated that Gabon looks forward to deepening practical cooperation with China across various sectors and promoting the sustained development of bilateral relations.
The meeting underscores both nations’ mutual desire to strengthen their strategic partnership and expand collaboration in key areas, building on decades of friendly ties.
