President Erdoğan Extends Eid al-Adha Greetings to the Nation and Global Muslim Community

Ankara, June 6, 2025 – The Europe Today: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Friday extended warm greetings to the nation and the global Muslim community in celebration of Eid al-Adha, also known as the Feast of the Sacrifice.

In a message shared via his official X account, President Erdoğan conveyed his hopes that the sacred holiday would bring blessings to Türkiye, the Turkish people, and all of humanity.

“May Eid al-Adha be auspicious for our country, our nation, and the entire humanity,” the President wrote, offering heartfelt congratulations to all Turkish citizens and “all our friends” around the world. He specifically extended his greetings to the people of Gaza and the Palestinian community, reaffirming Türkiye’s solidarity with those facing hardship during this time.

Eid al-Adha, one of the holiest days in the Islamic calendar, commemorates the profound act of obedience and faith shown by Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham), who was prepared to sacrifice his son in submission to God’s command. According to Islamic tradition, God intervened at the last moment and provided a ram as a substitute for the sacrifice.

Muslims around the world honor this event by performing the ritual slaughter of animals such as sheep, goats, or cattle. The meat is then distributed among family members, neighbors, and especially to those in need, reinforcing the values of sacrifice, charity, and community.

President Erdoğan’s message comes as millions of Muslims across Türkiye and the world gather in prayer and reflection, embracing the spiritual and communal essence of Eid al-Adha.
