Ashgabat, June 3, 2026 – The Europe Today: A document signing ceremony between relevant ministries and agencies of Turkmenistan and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) was held on June 3 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, marking World Bicycle Day, which was proclaimed by the UN General Assembly at the initiative of Turkmenistan.
The cooperation between Turkmenistan and the United Nations and its agencies is described as long-term and systematic, based on bilateral agreements. In order to further strengthen and expand this partnership, new documents were signed aimed at enhancing cooperation in key development areas.
The agreements included a Framework Agreement between the Government of Turkmenistan and UNDP on Co-Financing, designed to support joint development initiatives and strengthen implementation mechanisms for ongoing and future projects.
In addition, a Work Plan for 2026 was signed for the project “Support the Digitalization of the Judicial System of Turkmenistan” between the Supreme Court of Turkmenistan and the UNDP Representative Office in the country, aimed at advancing judicial modernization through digital transformation.
The parties also signed a revised project document on the “Transition of the National Tuberculosis Control Program of Turkmenistan from the Support of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria,” between the Ministry of Healthcare and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan and UNDP, focusing on strengthening national healthcare capacity and sustainability.
Furthermore, a Work Plan for 2026–2027 was concluded for the project “National System for Strategic Human Capital Planning” between the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan and UNDP, aimed at improving long-term human capital development and strategic planning.
The agreements reflect the continued commitment of Turkmenistan and UNDP to deepen cooperation in governance, healthcare, education, and digital transformation in line with national development priorities.
