Cairo, June 29, 2026 – The Europe Today: The Arab Parliament has commended King Mohammed VI of Morocco for his continued efforts in defending Jerusalem and supporting the Palestinian people, reaffirming his role as Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee during the Eighth Conference of the Arab Parliament and the Presidents of Arab Councils and Parliaments.
The recognition came in a resolution adopted at the conclusion of the conference, held on Saturday at the headquarters of the League of Arab States in Cairo. The event was jointly organized by the Arab Parliament and the Arab Parliamentary Union.
The resolution praised King Mohammed VI’s leadership in safeguarding the city of Jerusalem and supporting the resilience of the Palestinian people, particularly residents of East Jerusalem. Delegates reaffirmed their backing for the strategic role of the Al-Quds Committee under the King’s chairmanship, describing it as a key mechanism for protecting Jerusalem, preserving its religious and Abrahamic identity, and strengthening the steadfastness of the Palestinian population.
The conference also condemned measures by the Israeli occupation authorities aimed at altering Jerusalem’s legal, historical, and demographic character, reiterating Arab support for efforts to preserve the city’s status and identity.
Participants reaffirmed the Palestinian people’s legitimate and inalienable rights, including the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state based on the pre-June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The resolution further reiterated support for the right of Palestinian refugees to return and receive compensation in accordance with international law and relevant United Nations resolutions.
The conference emphasized that the two-state solution remains the only viable path toward achieving a just and comprehensive peace, in line with international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative.
The Al-Quds Committee, chaired by King Mohammed VI under the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), continues to focus on preserving Jerusalem’s cultural and religious heritage while supporting development initiatives that benefit the city’s Palestinian residents.
