Ambassador Yusuf Sharifzoda Meets IPC Secretary General to Boost Tajikistan-Pakistan Parliamentary Engagement

Islamabad, July 1, 2026 – The Europe Today: Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan to Pakistan, Yusuf Sharifzoda, on Tuesday held a meeting with Sitara Ayaz, Secretary General of the International Parliamentarians’ Congress, to discuss measures aimed at strengthening parliamentary cooperation between Tajikistan and Pakistan.

During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on expanding inter-parliamentary collaboration, emphasizing the importance of enhancing dialogue between the legislative bodies of the two countries, promoting the exchange of parliamentary expertise, and deepening cooperation within regional and international organizations.

The discussions also focused on organizing joint events involving representatives from political, academic and expert circles as part of activities marking the 35th anniversary of the State Independence of the Republic of Tajikistan.

Ambassador Sharifzoda briefed the Secretary General on Tajikistan’s achievements since gaining independence and highlighted the country’s foreign policy under the leadership of Emomali Rahmon. He also outlined Tajikistan’s international initiatives on water resource management, glacier preservation, and efforts to strengthen global peace and stability.

For her part, Sitara Ayaz reaffirmed the International Parliamentarians’ Congress’s commitment to expanding cooperation with Tajikistan through parliamentary diplomacy, facilitating exchanges of experience, implementing joint initiatives and organizing international events.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to continuing mutually beneficial cooperation and further strengthening ties between the Republic of Tajikistan and the International Parliamentarians’ Congress.
