Islamabad, August 13, 2026 — The Europe Today: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide held delegation-level talks in Islamabad on Thursday, reviewing bilateral relations and exchanging views on regional and international developments of mutual interest.
The talks covered the full spectrum of Pakistan-Norway relations, with particular focus on expanding cooperation in trade and investment, climate change, renewable energy, education, maritime affairs and people-to-people contacts.
During the meeting, the two sides expressed satisfaction over the warm and cordial state of bilateral relations and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
The two foreign ministers also held in-depth discussions on important regional and international developments, according to the Foreign Office.
Norwegian Foreign Minister Eide commended Pakistan’s “important and constructive role” during the recent Iran-US conflict and acknowledged the leadership and contributions of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.
The two sides also recognized the important role of the Pakistani diaspora in Norway and agreed to further strengthen people-to-people ties between the two countries.
Eide’s visit marks the first visit by a Norwegian foreign minister to Pakistan in a decade and represents the highest-level engagement between the two countries in the past ten years. His two-day visit is aimed at advancing bilateral relations and exploring new avenues for mutually beneficial cooperation.
The latest engagement builds on sustained high-level contacts between Islamabad and Oslo, including telephone conversations between Dar and Eide in March and April 2026, as well as the visit of Norwegian State Secretary Andreas Motzfeldt Kravik to Islamabad in May.
The two countries reiterated their resolve to further deepen their longstanding and cordial relations and expand cooperation across a broad range of mutually beneficial areas.
