Bishkek, September 1, 2026 – The Europe Today: President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov hosted a reception for Vice President of Vietnam Võ Thị Ánh Xuân in Bishkek, with the two sides discussing measures to further strengthen bilateral relations.
Vice President Xuân was in Bishkek to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Plus Summit. Welcoming the Vietnamese vice president and the high-level delegation, President Japarov highlighted the importance of her visit and welcomed the positive development of friendship and cooperation between the two countries, particularly in politics, diplomacy, trade, investment and people-to-people exchanges.
Japarov affirmed that Kyrgyzstan attaches importance to its relations with Vietnam, considers it a leading partner in Southeast Asia and seeks to further deepen bilateral cooperation.
Vice President Xuân conveyed an invitation from General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and President Tô Lâm for President Japarov to visit Vietnam at a mutually convenient time.
She also congratulated the Kyrgyz Government and people on the 35th anniversary of Independence Day and commended the country’s socio-economic achievements under President Japarov’s leadership. She praised Kyrgyzstan’s initiatives in addressing climate change and promoting sustainable development.
Xuân also congratulated Kyrgyzstan, as the SCO Chair for 2025-2026, on successfully hosting a number of high-level activities, saying these efforts contributed to peace, stability and cooperation in the region and beyond.
The Vietnamese vice president reaffirmed Vietnam’s commitment to its traditional friendship with Kyrgyzstan, describing the country as an important and reliable partner in Central Asia.
She proposed strengthening political trust through increased high-level contacts and delegation exchanges, while creating favourable conditions for businesses of both countries to access each other’s markets and expand trade and investment cooperation, including with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).
On economic and investment cooperation, President Japarov praised the activities and contributions of Vietnamese enterprises in Kyrgyzstan, particularly ROX Group, which is investing in energy and urban infrastructure.
He pledged continued support and favourable conditions for the group to effectively implement its projects and expand its investment and business operations in Kyrgyzstan.
During the occasion, President Japarov conferred the Dostuk (Friendship) Order on Trần Anh Tuấn, a leader of ROX Group, in recognition of his significant contribution to investment cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Vietnam.
Regarding multilateral cooperation, Xuân proposed closer coordination and mutual support at the United Nations and other international forums. She also congratulated Kyrgyzstan on its election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the 2027-28 term.
President Japarov affirmed Kyrgyzstan’s readiness to maintain close cooperation with Vietnam through the United Nations and other multilateral mechanisms.
The two sides agreed to expand cooperation in areas with significant potential, including science and technology, transport, logistics, culture, tourism, sports and people-to-people exchanges.
They also agreed to enhance coordination in addressing traditional and non-traditional security challenges and promote the role of Vietnam and Kyrgyzstan in strengthening connectivity between Southeast Asia and Central Asia.
Vice President Xuân urged President Japarov and relevant Kyrgyz authorities to continue facilitating the stable residence, employment and business activities of the Vietnamese community, enabling its members to integrate into local society and contribute to Kyrgyzstan’s development and bilateral friendship.
During her visit, Vice President Xuân also met representatives of the Vietnamese community and held several other bilateral meetings.
