Baku, September 10, 2026 – The Europe Today: President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has congratulated Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed on his election as Secretary-General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), wishing him success in his responsible new role.
In his congratulatory letter, President Aliyev underscored Azerbaijan’s commitment to cooperation with the OIC, describing the current level of relations between Azerbaijan and the organization as a source of satisfaction.
The Azerbaijani President expressed confidence that Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed’s leadership would contribute to addressing the key challenges facing the OIC and further strengthening Islamic solidarity.
President Aliyev also wished the newly elected Secretary-General good health, happiness and continued success in his efforts to promote the prosperity and well-being of the Islamic world.
