New York, September 25, 2026 — The Europe Today: Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held a meeting in New York on the sidelines of the High-Level Week of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The two foreign ministers exchanged views on current regional and international issues, with particular attention to developments concerning Iran.
During the meeting, the sides emphasized that a diplomatic settlement is the only way forward to resolve the crisis, which they attributed to what they described as unlawful actions by the United States and Israel.
Lavrov and Araghchi also discussed the implementation of bilateral agreements reached during the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in Bishkek on September 1, 2026.
The two ministers further reviewed the schedule of upcoming Russia-Iran contacts at various levels, underscoring continued engagement between the two countries on bilateral and regional matters.
