Baku, October 16, 2026 – The Europe Today: Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has said that Azerbaijan prioritised strengthening the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) during its two-year chairmanship, while actively promoting cooperation across multiple sectors.
Addressing the 7th CICA Summit in Baku, President Aliyev said Azerbaijan had advanced cooperation in transport, connectivity, digitalisation, environmental protection, tourism, education, science and other areas.
He noted that various initiatives introduced by Azerbaijan, with the unanimous support of all CICA member states, had contributed to strengthening the organisation both institutionally and legally.
President Aliyev emphasised that these collective efforts had enhanced CICA’s organisational capacity and provided a stronger foundation for expanding cooperation among member states.
The summit brought together leaders and representatives of participating countries to discuss regional cooperation, confidence-building measures and ways to address shared challenges across Asia.
