Xi’an, September 28, 2024 – The Europe Today: The Nepal Pavilion garnered significant attention during the 8th Silk Road International Expo, held in Xi’an, Shaanxi Province, from September 20 to 24, 2024. Nepalese businessmen showcased the country’s rich cultural heritage and exceptional artisanal craftsmanship at the event.
Among the exhibitors was Muzaffar Ahmed Bhat, a seasoned handicraft seller, who presented a stunning array of traditional fabrics, tapestries, and handwoven shawls crafted from fine wool, cotton, and silk. Adorned in traditional Nepalese attire, Muzaffar warmly welcomed visitors to his booth, passionately explaining the significance of each intricate design.
With over a decade of experience in the Chinese market, Muzaffar noted substantial growth in his business, stating that his products have now reached various markets across the country. “China offers a supportive environment for artisans like me. The demand for unique handmade products is growing, and the Silk Road Expo allows us to build lasting trade relationships,” he remarked.
Another entrepreneur, Anil Thapa from Kathmandu, shared his experience of expanding his family textile business in China. He highlighted the alignment between Chinese consumers’ respect for tradition and the cultural values embedded in Nepalese textiles.
China stands as Nepal’s second-largest trading partner, with a marked increase in bilateral trade; China’s imports from Nepal have risen significantly in recent years. The Silk Road International Expo has become a vibrant platform for entrepreneurs from Nepal and around the globe to explore new growth opportunities, establishing Xi’an as a crucial hub for international trade and investment.
This year’s expo attracted business associations and enterprises from 41 countries, promoting resources, industries, and products, while fostering connections for joint ventures and trade expansion.
