Tashkent, October 25, 2024 – The Europe Today: The Kyrgyzstan U18 national volleyball team has emerged victorious at the Central Asian Volleyball Association (CAVA) Boy’s and Girls’ U18 Volleyball Championship, held in Tashkent. The tournament featured participation from six teams across the region.
In the group stage, teams played in a round-robin format, with the Kyrgyz national team dominating the competition by winning all five of their matches, accumulating an impressive 14 out of 15 possible points. Under the leadership of coach Andrey Ankudinov, Kyrgyzstan secured first place in the group and advanced to the finals.
On October 24, the Kyrgyz team faced Uzbekistan in a rematch of their group-stage encounter, where Kyrgyzstan had narrowly defeated Uzbekistan with a 3:2 scoreline. However, in the final, the Kyrgyz team displayed overwhelming strength and left no room for doubt, sweeping the match with a 3:0 victory.
With this win, the Kyrgyzstan team claimed the gold medal, while the Uzbekistan team earned silver, and Turkmenistan took home the bronze.
This remarkable achievement marks a significant milestone for Kyrgyz volleyball and highlights the team’s outstanding performance throughout the championship.
