Algiers, October 31, 2026 – The Europe Today: President of the Republic, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of National Defence Abdelmadjid Tebboune on Thursday evening presented the 54th Algerian Military Football Cup trophy to the captain of the victorious Naval Forces Command team.
The Naval Forces Command defeated the Air Forces Command 4-3 in a penalty shootout after the final ended in a 1-1 draw in regulation time. The match was held at the Shaheed Messaoud Boudjeriou Center for the Assembly and Preparation of Military Sports Teams in Ben Aknoun, Algiers.
President Tebboune also presented honorary medals to the players as well as the technical and administrative staff of both teams, and honoured the officials who refereed the match.
Upon his arrival at the centre to preside over the final, the President of the Republic was received by Army General Saïd Chanegriha, Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defence and Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army.
Following the national anthem, formations from the various forces of the People’s National Army paid honours to the President of the Republic and rendered a military salute.
