Samarkand, December 23, 2024 – The Europe Today: The Minister of Sports, accompanied by the leadership of the National Olympic Committee, visited the Samarkand region to assess the sports infrastructure and discuss future development plans.
The delegation toured key facilities, including the sports school specializing in sports games and athletics, School No. 1, and the Center for Training in Olympic and Paralympic Sports in Samarkand. These visits aimed to evaluate the current conditions and identify areas for improvement to foster athletic excellence.
A meeting was held during the visit, with the participation of Acting Hokim of the region A. Babayev, representatives from the regional sports department, and various sports federations. Discussions focused on priority initiatives such as nurturing talented youth, promoting mass participation in sports, and organizing more frequent sports events across the region.
Key agenda items included formulating a comprehensive four-year development plan, identifying potential athletes for inclusion in national teams for the upcoming Summer Olympics, and enhancing social support for athletes to ensure their well-being and sustained performance.
This visit underscores the commitment of the Ministry of Sports and the National Olympic Committee to strengthening the sports sector in Samarkand, with a view to building a pipeline of talented athletes and expanding opportunities for public engagement in sports activities.
