China Vows to Strengthen Partnership with ASEAN for Regional Peace and Development

Beijing, January 16, 2025 – The Europe Today:  Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi reaffirmed China’s commitment to fostering sound and sustainable development in relations with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), emphasizing joint contributions to regional peace and prosperity.

Meeting with diplomatic envoys from the 10 ASEAN member states in Beijing on Thursday, Wang, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, highlighted the enduring partnership between China and ASEAN.

“China and ASEAN are good friends, neighbors, and partners. Our relations have provided valuable stability for both the region and the world,” Wang stated.

He underscored China’s dedication to practicing true multilateralism, promoting an equitable multipolar world, and advancing inclusive economic globalization that benefits all. Wang expressed China’s readiness to work with ASEAN to build a more just and reasonable global governance system.

Wang also invited ASEAN nations to seize new opportunities arising from China’s development, emphasizing collaboration to achieve modernization in Asia and globally.

The meeting reinforced the shared vision of China and ASEAN for deeper cooperation in diplomacy, economic integration, and regional stability, underscoring their pivotal roles in shaping the future of Asia and beyond.
