Xi Jinping Urges Senior Officials to Take on New Responsibilities in Advancing Chinese Modernization

Beijing, February 26, 2025 – The Europe Today: Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, has called on senior Party officials to embrace new responsibilities and take proactive steps in advancing Chinese modernization.

Xi made these remarks after reviewing annual work reports submitted by senior Party officials to the CPC Central Committee and to him as the general secretary.

The reports were submitted by members of the Political Bureau and the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, leading Party members’ groups of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, the State Council, and the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, as well as secretaries of the Supreme People’s Court and the Supreme People’s Procuratorate.

Xi emphasized the complex challenges of implementing reforms while ensuring stability, as 2025 marks the final year of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025) and a crucial period for deepening reforms comprehensively.

The general secretary urged Party officials to resolutely implement key policies and work towards achieving the targets of the 14th Five-Year Plan with high quality, laying a solid foundation for a strong start to the upcoming 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030).

Xi also stressed the importance of responding to domestic and global challenges, accelerating the new development model, expanding high-standard opening up, and ensuring steady economic growth.

Additionally, Xi urged officials to enhance research and policy studies, strictly adhere to the Party leadership’s eight-point decision on improving governance, and remain committed to Party self-governance and political responsibility.
