MBRF Launches Knowledge Lounge Initiative in Canada to Promote Arabic Reading and Global Knowledge Engagement

Toronto, July 29, 2025 – The Europe Today: The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF) has expanded its global outreach with the launch of the Knowledge Lounge initiative in Canada, reinforcing its mission to promote Arabic reading and foster sustainable knowledge development across international communities.

The inaugural session of the Canadian edition was held in Toronto, in partnership with the Mosaic Foundation, and featured distinguished speakers including Hussein Darwish from the Dubai International Program for Writing and Hind Zareef, Director of the Mosaic Foundation.

Hussein Darwish emphasized that the Knowledge Lounge provides an open space for dialogue, bringing together readers, authors, and experts. “This initiative is founded on the belief that knowledge shapes individuals and societies,” he stated, highlighting the platform’s goal of encouraging analytical and critical thinking.

Hind Zareef lauded the collaboration, describing it as a “vital step in enhancing the global presence of the Arabic language” while also promoting cultural exchange and intellectual engagement among diverse communities.

The Canadian launch marks another milestone in MBRF’s international Knowledge Lounge expansion, following successful sessions held in Sydney and Melbourne in March 2025. These events were conducted in collaboration with the Federal Youth Foundation of the UAE and the Global Youth Council in Australia.

Commenting on the initiative, Jamal bin Huwaireb, CEO of MBRF, stated:

“This expansion aligns with the Foundation’s strategic vision to connect Arab readers worldwide and reinforce Arabic as a language of knowledge in global discourse. The Knowledge Lounge supports the sustainability of knowledge and encourages the growth of creative, knowledge-driven societies.”

Throughout July 2025, the Knowledge Lounge is also conducting an extensive series of events across the United Arab Emirates, including:

  • Workshops at the Mohammed bin Rashid Library in Dubai
  • Literary discussions in Abu Dhabi, Khor Fakkan, Al Ain, Sharjah, Ajman, Fujairah, and Ras Al Khaimah
  • Youth-focused sessions in partnership with Al-Naqsh platform and the Dubai International Program for Writing

In collaboration with the Digital Knowledge Center, upcoming sessions will also delve into critical contemporary topics such as digital transformation and cosmology.

Internationally, a notable session in Australia will explore Soft Power: Volunteer Work and Humanitarian Giving Following Zayed’s Footsteps, a book by Adel Al Shamry, highlighting the intersection of knowledge and humanitarian action.

As the Knowledge Lounge initiative continues to grow, it serves as a bridge for cultural understanding, uniting communities through literature and inspiring a new generation of thinkers and readers across the globe.
