Kia

Washington, February 27, 2026 – The Europe Today: Kia Corporation’s U.S. unit is recalling 85,448 vehicles over a defect in the seat back frame that may fail to properly restrain occupants during a crash, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reported on Friday.

According to the safety agency, the recall covers multiple Kia models sold in the United States. The defect could increase the risk of injury in the event of a collision if the seat back frame does not perform as intended.

Vehicle owners affected by the recall will be notified by the automaker and instructed to bring their vehicles in for inspection and any necessary repairs at no cost. The corrective measures are aimed at ensuring passenger safety and compliance with federal safety standards.

The NHTSA said it continues to monitor vehicle safety issues across manufacturers to protect drivers and passengers from defects that could contribute to injuries during crashes.
