Dubai, March 3, 2026 – The Europe Today: Reports circulating in the media and on social networks claiming that authorities in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are covering accommodation and meal expenses for tourists stranded due to flight cancellations have been challenged by affected travelers.
According to emerging accounts from tourists currently unable to leave the country, the information does not reflect the situation on the ground. Azerbaijani actor Eljan Rasulov publicly stated that he has not received any free assistance despite being stranded amid escalating regional tensions.
Rasulov said he has been unable to return to Baku after flights were canceled. “Since yesterday, I’ve been seeing messages saying that the state is paying for flights and accommodation. People are writing that the authorities are helping. But there is nothing like that,” he said.
The actor explained that he approached the hotel administration as his stay was nearing expiration, noting that he held a valid return ticket but was unable to depart due to circumstances beyond his control. However, his request for a complimentary extension was declined.
He further alleged that hotel room rates have significantly increased in recent days. According to Rasulov, a room previously priced at $100 is now being offered at $200, while rooms that cost $200 have risen to $400.
Rasulov suggested that smaller hotels or private rental apartments might have alternative arrangements, but said that in larger hotels there has been no official information regarding free accommodation for stranded tourists.
He also stated that the Azerbaijani Embassy has informed citizens about special measures being considered, although specific details and timelines for implementation have not yet been clarified.
Additionally, Rasulov noted that sounds resembling air defense systems can periodically be heard in the city. He said emergency services remain on heightened alert, with additional security measures visibly in place.
The actor confirmed that he remains in the UAE and pledged to continue updating the public regarding further developments.
