Tajikistan

Dushanbe, May 21, 2026 – The Europe Today: In anticipation of the upcoming 4th High-Level International Conference on the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development”, 2018–2028, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, Sirojiddin Muhriddin, has issued a formal address to the international community.

The conference is scheduled to take place in the capital city of Dushanbe from May 25 to May 28, 2026.

In his official message, Minister Muhriddin underscored the critical importance of water resources, identifying water as the fundamental cornerstone of life, sustainable development, global food security, public health, energy production, and economic prosperity.

The Minister sharply emphasized the urgent need for enhanced international cooperation and collective action to address escalating water-related challenges. He specifically noted the compounding pressures of global climate change and the accelerating rate of glacier melting, which pose significant threats to global water security.

“Taking care of water means taking care of our common future,” the Minister underlined in his statement.

Concluding his address, the Minister of Foreign Affairs extended a formal invitation to global stakeholders, calling upon governments, international organizations, financial institutions, academic bodies, youth representatives, and the private sector to actively participate in the Dushanbe conference later this month to forge actionable solutions for a sustainable future.
