Turkmenistan, Germany Review Bilateral Ties as German Ambassador Concludes Mission

Ashgabat, June 24, 2026 – The Europe Today: Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov on Wednesday met with German Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Turkmenistan Bernd Hains, who is completing his diplomatic mission in the Central Asian country.

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the current state of bilateral cooperation and discussed priority areas of Turkmen-German relations. They also explored opportunities to further strengthen collaboration in the political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian spheres.

The discussions underscored the importance of existing mechanisms of bilateral cooperation, including regular consultations, the activities of relevant working groups, and coordination within international organizations.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining constructive dialogue and expanding cooperation across areas of mutual interest.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Foreign Minister Meredov expressed appreciation to Ambassador Hains for his personal contribution to the development of relations between Turkmenistan and Germany and wished him continued success in his future professional endeavors.

For his part, Ambassador Hains thanked the Turkmen government for its support and constructive cooperation throughout his diplomatic tenure, highlighting the positive engagement between the two countries during his mission.

The meeting reflected the friendly and mutually beneficial nature of Turkmen-German relations and the shared interest in further advancing bilateral cooperation.
