Dushanbe, October 7, 2026 – The Europe Today: Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Muhriddin held a meeting with Abu Amani, Acting Assistant Director-General of UNESCO for Natural Sciences, to discuss expanding cooperation between Tajikistan and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan, the meeting focused on the implementation of the International Decade of Cryospheric Sciences for 2025–2034, preparations for the 2028 UN Water Conference to be held in Dushanbe, and the expansion of Tajikistan-UNESCO cooperation in the fields of water, glaciers and science.
The sides also exchanged views on UNESCO’s participation in Tajikistan’s international initiatives, including the International Decade for Strengthening Peace for the Benefit of Future Generations for 2027–2036.
The meeting underscored the importance of continued international cooperation in addressing challenges related to water resources, glacier preservation, scientific research and sustainable development.
