Lahore, March 11, 2024, The Europe Today: In a recognition of its commitment to social responsibility, PAK Matari-Lahore Transmission Company (PMLTC) has been awarded with the Corporate Social Responsibility Award for the year 2024 by the National Forum on Environment and Health (NFEH) in Pakistan.
The accolade was conferred upon PMLTC at the 16th Corporate Social Responsibility Summit held in Islamabad, Pakistan, on March 6th. This marks the third consecutive year that PMLTC has clinched this esteemed award, underscoring its consistent dedication to making a positive impact on society.
PMLTC has remained steadfast in its pursuit of localized sustainable development. As of March 4, 2024, the Matiari-Lahore ±660kV HVDC Transmission project has been operational for 1,256 days, facilitating the transmission of a remarkable 364 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity. This contribution has not only supported Pakistan’s economic and social progress but has also played a pivotal role in its energy transition towards a low-carbon future.
Actively engaging in corporate social responsibility initiatives, PMLTC has played a vital role in the development of local communities. In 2023, the company actively participated in the construction of Mehran Paradise Picnic Point-Hala Old District Matiari, Pakistan, offering substantial support for the successful execution of the project. The company’s efforts were duly recognized by the local government and community organizations, who awarded PMLTC with an “Appreciation Award” as a token of gratitude for its unwavering commitment to social responsibility.
Furthermore, PMLTC is dedicated to nurturing local talent in the field of HVDC transmission maintenance. Through various training programs implemented in 2023, the company facilitated the training of engineers from different organizations within Pakistan, providing them with invaluable skills and knowledge. This initiative not only bolsters Pakistan’s electricity sector but also strengthens cooperation between Pakistan and China, particularly in the realm of electricity.
