Singapore, May 23, 2024, The Europe Today: During the Kazakhstan-Singapore Business Forum, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced Kazakhstan’s readiness to supply critical raw materials and natural resources to Singapore. Media reports indicate that Tokayev emphasized Kazakhstan’s potential as a reliable partner in the joint development of these resources, given the projected fourfold increase in global demand for rare metals by 2040.
Kazakhstan, which has around 5,000 unexplored deposits, is poised to become a key player in this market. Tokayev expressed optimism about long-term cooperation with Indorama, a company interested in exploring copper and phosphate deposits in Kazakhstan.
The Kazakh President also highlighted the country’s significant potential in renewable energy. He called on Singaporean companies to expand their partnerships in clean energy generation, technology transfer, and experience sharing. Noting Singapore’s advanced energy generation facilities that utilize incineration and innovative waste management technologies, Tokayev expressed Kazakhstan’s keen interest in adopting similar methods and promoting bilateral cooperation in this area.
This forum underscored the strategic importance of Kazakhstan-Singapore relations, with both nations exploring new avenues for collaboration in resource development and sustainable energy practices.
