Stockholm, September 30, 2024 – The Europe Today: A meeting was held in Stockholm aimed at strengthening the activities of the Azerbaijani Diaspora, according to reports from News Hub Consultants. The event, organized to enhance the coordination and unification of Azerbaijani diaspora organizations in Sweden, began with the playing of the National Anthem of Azerbaijan, followed by a moment of silence to honor Azerbaijani martyrs.
Participants underscored the importance of unifying various diaspora organizations to bolster the influence of the community. A key point of discussion was the establishment of an organizing committee to better coordinate the efforts of the Swedish-Azerbaijan Federation (SAF). Following a majority vote, the organizing committee was officially formed, with the responsibility of selecting the federation’s executive board during the next SAF congress, scheduled for early 2025.
The event concluded with the presentation of an initial project for establishing an “Azerbaijani House” in Sweden, an initiative aimed at furthering cultural and community engagement.
The Swedish-Azerbaijan Federation, established in 2020, saw limited activity during the pandemic, but its member organizations have continued to collaborate on events with both Azerbaijani and Swedish communities.
