Bishkek, September 30, 2024 – The Europe Today: The Kyrgyz national football team secured their qualification for the 2025 Asian Cup U-20 after a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Japan at the Dolon Omurzakov Stadium in Bishkek. The match was part of the Group I qualifying games for the tournament, with Kyrgyzstan competing against Japan, Myanmar, and Turkmenistan.
Earlier in the qualifiers, Kyrgyzstan achieved two significant victories, defeating Myanmar 2-0 and Turkmenistan 1-0, putting them in a strong position to advance. The draw against Japan brought their points tally to 7, allowing them to qualify for the Asian Cup from second place in the group. Japan, also with 7 points, finished at the top of the standings due to a superior goal difference.
In the group, Turkmenistan and Myanmar ended their campaigns without points, finishing in third and fourth places, respectively.
The 2025 Asian Cup U-20 qualifying tournament features 45 teams divided into 10 groups. The group winners and the 5 best second-place teams will advance to the final stage of the competition.
