Washington, December 30, 2024 – The Europe Today: U.S. President Joe Biden has officially proclaimed January 9, 2025, as a National Day of Mourning in honor of the late President Jimmy Carter, who passed away on December 29, 2024.
In a solemn proclamation released by the White House, President Biden announced, “It is my solemn duty to announce officially the death of James Earl Carter, Jr., the thirty-ninth President of the United States, on December 29, 2024.”
The proclamation further called on Americans to gather in their respective places of worship on January 9 to pay tribute to President Carter’s memory. “I invite the people of the world who share our grief to join us in this solemn observance,” it stated, reflecting the global impact of Carter’s legacy.
President Carter, who served from 1977 to 1981, was widely respected for his dedication to peace, human rights, and public service, leaving an enduring mark on the nation and the world.
