Beijing, January 13, 2025 – The Europe Today: China’s total foreign trade reached a historic milestone in 2024, expanding by 5 percent year-on-year to 43.85 trillion yuan (approximately $5.98 trillion), according to official data released Monday by the General Administration of Customs.
Exports grew at a robust pace, surging 7.1 percent year-on-year to 25.45 trillion yuan. This marks the first time exports have exceeded the 25-trillion-yuan threshold, extending an uninterrupted eight-year upward trend.
Imports also contributed to the trade expansion, edging up 2.3 percent from the previous year to 18.39 trillion yuan, showcasing steady domestic demand for foreign goods and services.
The record-breaking trade figures underline China’s resilience and its pivotal role in global commerce amidst a complex international economic environment.
