Belarusian President Lukashenko Pledges to Ensure Peace and Stability in Belarus Amid Global Changes

Minsk, January 25, 2025 – The Europe Today: Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko declared on January 24 that his government would do its best to maintain peace, calm, and stability in Belarus, emphasizing that this commitment is particularly important as the world undergoes significant geopolitical shifts.

Speaking at the final concert of the Marathon of Unity campaign, Lukashenko referred to 2025 as the year of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory, marking the end of World War II. He honored the Soviet people’s contribution to the victory and reaffirmed his country’s dedication to preserving peace. “As worthy successors of the Soviet people who won the war, we will do our utmost to ensure peace, calm, and stability in Belarus,” he stated.

Lukashenko also reflected on the current state of the world, noting that a violent redivision of the global order, established in 1945, is taking place. He pointed out that Belarus, as one of the founding nations of the United Nations, has always been committed to the principles of the UN Charter.

“The unipolarity of recent decades is falling apart. New alliances and centers of power are emerging,” he said. “Being in the center of events, Belarus certainly strengthens its defense capabilities, but still remains an island of peace, good neighborliness, and common sense,” Lukashenko concluded, underscoring the country’s commitment to maintaining peace and stability amidst changing international dynamics.
