Central Lombok, March 2, 2025 – The Europe Today: State tourism holding ITDC (InJourney) conducted a tree-planting initiative in the Mandalika Special Economic Zone (KEK) on Saturday as part of the InJourney Green program, which aims to foster sustainable and environmentally friendly tourism.
“This program aims to establish green tourism in Mandalika,” said Wahyu M. Nugroho, General Manager of Mandalika, on Saturday.
The tree-planting initiative is part of a larger commitment by all InJourney subsidiaries to plant 27,850 trees by the end of 2025. This effort builds on an earlier agenda that included the planting of 10,000 trees ahead of the Indonesian GP 2024 event.
In addition to tree planting, Nugroho highlighted that environmental clean-up activities were also carried out as a tangible contribution to preserving Mandalika’s natural surroundings.
“The tree-planting activity in Mandalika is not merely symbolic but forms part of a significant effort to protect nature and develop a green, globally competitive tourist destination,” he added.
The InJourney Green program represents a collective movement by all InJourney Group members to establish an eco-friendly tourism ecosystem. This aligns with Indonesia’s vision of achieving Net Zero Carbon by 2060 and Zero Waste by 2050.
“This initiative supports the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 13 (Climate Action), Goal 14 (Life Below Water), and Goal 15 (Life on Land),” Nugroho stated.
ITDC recognizes the importance of engaging employees, local communities, and key stakeholders at each managed destination to collaborate on environmental preservation, thereby promoting genuine sustainable practices.
“We hope this activity inspires more people to contribute to protecting the environment,” Nugroho concluded.
