Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Arrives in Belarus for Two-Day Official Visit

Minsk, April 10, 2025 — The Europe Today: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Minsk on Thursday for a two-day official visit to the Republic of Belarus, at the invitation of President Aleksandr Lukashenko. The visit, taking place from April 10 to 11, underscores the continued strengthening of bilateral relations between Pakistan and Belarus.

Upon arrival at Minsk National Airport, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was warmly received by Prime Minister of Belarus Alexander Turchin, along with senior officials and representatives from the Embassy of Pakistan in Belarus. The visiting delegation was accorded a traditional Belarusian welcome, which included the ceremonial presentation of korovai — a decorated loaf of bread served with salt, symbolizing hospitality and goodwill.

The prime minister is accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi.

During the visit, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is scheduled to hold talks with President Aleksandr Lukashenko to review progress in key areas of bilateral cooperation and explore new avenues for enhancing mutual ties. The two sides are expected to sign several agreements aimed at deepening collaboration in areas of shared interest, including trade, investment, education, and technology.

In a message shared on his official social media account, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif remarked: “Arrived in Minsk to bracing winter winds against the backdrop of a very warm welcome by H.E. Alexander Turchin, Prime Minister of Belarus at the airport, where I was honored with an age old tradition and a gesture of Belarusian hospitality – the korovai, a decorated loaf accompanied by salt.”

Expressing optimism for the upcoming engagements, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated his eagerness to meet President Lukashenko, emphasizing the shared commitment to advancing mutually beneficial cooperation and further strengthening the long-standing partnership between Pakistan and Belarus.
