Beijing, May 19, 2025 — The Europe Today: President Xi Jinping has underscored the importance of sound, democratic, and law-based decision-making in the formulation of China’s upcoming 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030), aiming to ensure the next phase of national economic and social development is guided by high-quality planning.
In a recent instruction concerning the preparatory work for the new five-year blueprint, Xi — who also serves as General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Chairman of the Central Military Commission — called for a scientific and forward-looking approach that reflects the will of the people and aligns with the nation’s strategic goals.
President Xi’s directive highlights the need to integrate democratic participation and legal standards throughout the compilation process. This approach, he noted, will help enhance governance efficiency, promote sustainable development, and respond effectively to the evolving domestic and international environment.
The 15th Five-Year Plan will serve as a critical policy roadmap guiding China’s economic, social, and technological advancement through the end of this decade. The plan is expected to address key priorities including innovation, green development, economic restructuring, social equity, and national security.
The drafting of the plan marks a significant moment in China’s long-term development trajectory, as the country seeks to solidify its gains from the previous planning cycles and navigate the complex global landscape with greater resilience and strategic focus.
