Dushanbe, May 5, 2026 – The Europe Today: The Government of Tajikistan, in collaboration with the United Nations, has announced that the Water Festival will take place on May 25 at the Navruzgoh Culture and Recreation Park.
The festival serves as a cornerstone event for the Fourth High-Level International Conference on the Decade of Action “Water for Sustainable Development, 2018–2028,” scheduled to run from May 25 to 28 in the capital city.
Cultural and Industrial Showcases
According to the state news agency Khovar, the festival will feature a diverse array of exhibitions from cities and districts across the Republic. Attendees can expect to view:
- Traditional Folk Crafts: Wood carving, jewelry, gold embroidery, and beadwork.
- National Textiles: Displays of authentic atlas, adras, and chakan fabrics.
- Agricultural Bounty: Exhibitions of national dishes alongside fresh and dried fruits.
- Artisanal Works: Basket weaving and intricate embroidery.
The event will be highlighted by a specialized cultural program titled “Water – the Source of Humanity’s Life,” underscoring the vital role of water in Tajik culture and global survival.
Global Policy and Cooperation
The Fourth High-Level International Conference aims to accelerate progress toward the goals of the water decade, originally proclaimed by the U.N. General Assembly in 2016.
The in-person summit will convene a broad spectrum of international stakeholders, including:
- High-level government representatives and U.N. member states.
- International financial institutions and regional organizations.
- Academic researchers and private sector leaders.
- Civil society advocates, including women’s and youth organizations.
Beyond the Conference Hall
Participants will have the opportunity to engage with Tajikistan’s natural landscape through organized regional tours. These excursions are designed to showcase the nation’s tourism facilities and its significant water and energy potential.
