Cebu City, May 7, 2026 – The Europe Today: Hassanal Bolkiah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei, departed for Cebu City to attend the 48th ASEAN Summit and related meetings being held from today until tomorrow in the Philippines.
Accompanying His Majesty on the visit was Prince Abdul Mateen.
Before departing from Istana Nurul Iman, a Doa Selamat prayer was recited by Abdul Aziz Juned.
Members of the Brunei royal family, senior government officials, Cabinet ministers, members of the Privy Council, deputy ministers, the Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, and the Acting Commissioner of Police of the Royal Brunei Police Force were present at His Majesty the Sultan’s Flight Hangar in Rimba to bid farewell.
Upon arrival at BGEN Benito Ebuen Air Base in Cebu, His Majesty was welcomed by Philippine Secretary of Social Welfare and Development Rexlon Gatchalian, Cebu Governor Pamela Baricuatro, Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Cynthia Chan, Philippine Presidential Chief of Protocol Reichel Quinones, and other senior Philippine officials.
Also present to receive the Sultan was Megawati Manan, Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam to the Philippines.
