Dushanbe, June 11, 2026 – The Europe Today: First Deputy Prime Minister of Tajikistan Khokim Kholikzoda met with Douglas Clarke, the United Kingdom’s Regional Sanctions Attaché, in Dushanbe to discuss cooperation in the financial sector and the implementation of international standards, according to the National Bank of Tajikistan.
During the meeting, the Tajik side reaffirmed its commitment to expanding mutually beneficial cooperation with international partners and continuing efforts to ensure transparency, stability, and compliance with internationally recognized standards within the country’s financial system.
The two sides reviewed the current state of bilateral cooperation and explored ways to strengthen coordination in the financial sector. Discussions focused on developments in Tajikistan’s banking system, the effective implementation of international requirements and standards, and measures aimed at enhancing supervisory oversight and risk management mechanisms.
According to the National Bank of Tajikistan, Clarke commended the country’s engagement with international partners in strengthening coordination frameworks and advancing cooperation in the financial sphere.
The Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan briefed participants on ongoing measures to safeguard the stability of the banking sector, improve supervisory practices, strengthen risk management systems, and ensure compliance by financial and credit institutions with international requirements.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides expressed their readiness to maintain constructive dialogue and further expand cooperation in areas of mutual interest, underscoring the importance of continued collaboration in promoting a stable, transparent, and internationally integrated financial sector.
