Ulaanbaatar, July 22, 2026 – The Europe Today: President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and Mongolian Prime Minister Nyam-Osorin Uchral held talks in Ulaanbaatar on Tuesday, reaffirming their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation across a wide range of sectors.
According to Tajikistan’s National Information Agency (Khovar), the meeting focused on advancing political, economic, cultural, and humanitarian ties between the two friendly nations.
Opening the meeting, President Rahmon underscored Tajikistan’s commitment to deepening relations with Mongolia.
“We constantly pay special attention to strengthening and expanding mutually beneficial cooperation with friendly Mongolia,” the Tajik president said.
The two sides emphasized the importance of broadening trade and economic cooperation and highlighted the role of the Joint Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation in promoting the full spectrum of bilateral relations.
The discussions identified hydropower, agriculture—particularly livestock farming—mining, and geology as priority areas for future collaboration.
Both leaders also explored opportunities for implementing joint projects in the production, storage, and processing of agricultural products, increasing exports of organic agricultural goods to Mongolia, and establishing joint ventures for processing livestock products.
To further strengthen commercial ties, the two sides stressed the importance of direct engagement between business communities and welcomed the holding of the Tajikistan–Mongolia Business Forum in Ulaanbaatar. They also proposed the establishment of a Joint Council of Entrepreneurs of Tajikistan and Mongolia to facilitate business cooperation and investment.
In addition to economic collaboration, President Rahmon and Prime Minister Uchral reaffirmed their shared interest in expanding cultural and humanitarian exchanges. They discussed enhancing cooperation between higher education institutions, research centers, and tourism organizations to promote closer people-to-people contacts.
The meeting reflected the mutual commitment of Tajikistan and Mongolia to further deepen their partnership and explore new avenues of cooperation for the benefit of both countries.
