President Rahmon Oversees Flood Recovery, Orders Swift Aid for Affected Families

Dushanbe, July 23, 2026 – The Europe Today: President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon on Tuesday directed authorities to complete recovery and reconstruction efforts within one month following severe flooding in the Rushon district of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO).

According to the presidential press service, President Rahmon issued the instructions during a telephone conversation with the Chairman of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region, Sharifkhon Safarzoda, after returning from his state visit to Mongolia.

During the conversation, the regional chairman briefed the president on the ongoing efforts to eliminate the aftermath of the natural disaster that recently affected Rushon district.

President Rahmon instructed the leadership of GBAO to work closely with the relevant central government authorities to fully restore the affected areas within one month and provide immediate assistance to residents for the reconstruction of damaged homes and other essential facilities.

The president stressed the importance of ensuring timely support for the affected population and accelerating recovery operations to restore normal living conditions as quickly as possible.

It was further noted that Prime Minister Qohir Rasulzoda and the heads of relevant national agencies have also been directed to support the relief and reconstruction efforts, with the progress of the recovery work being monitored directly by President Rahmon.
