Islamabad, July 27, 2026 – The Europe Today: Pakistan on Monday strongly condemned what it described as the “highly provocative and irresponsible” remarks made by India’s Defence Minister regarding the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, saying the comments threaten regional peace and misrepresent the internationally recognized status of the issue.
In a statement, Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said the Indian minister’s remarks distorted the facts surrounding the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, which remains on the agenda of the United Nations Security Council.
“The statement not only distorts facts regarding the UN and internationally recognized Jammu and Kashmir dispute that remains on the agenda of the UN Security Council but also reflects the Indian government’s deliberate policy of threatening regional and international peace and security,” the spokesperson said.
According to the Foreign Office, the remarks were intended to divert international attention from what Pakistan described as India’s continued administration of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), as well as allegations concerning regional security and domestic challenges.
The spokesperson further stated that India should not underestimate Pakistan’s determination to respond to any perceived aggression, referring to the country’s military preparedness and citing Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos as an example of Pakistan’s resolve.
Pakistan also called on the international community, particularly the United Nations, to take note of what it described as India’s continued conduct and urged the global body to ensure the implementation of relevant UN Security Council resolutions, which Pakistan says guarantee the right to self-determination for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
The statement reiterated Pakistan’s longstanding position that the Jammu and Kashmir dispute should be resolved in accordance with United Nations resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
